The King Mackerel is a highly sought-after game fish in South Africa, especially off the KwaZulu Natal coast.

The King Mackerel has many names in South Africa and all around the world: Couta, Kuda, Katonkel, Spanish Mackerel, and Walu. Most fishermen and anglers in South Africa refer to it as the Couta or Katonkel but the King Mackerel is the most well-known name for this aggressive predatory South African fish species… The King Mackerel has very sharp teeth and can attain weights of over 35 kilograms!

This smaller of the two couta fish replica measures 90cm length tip to tail, 20cm wide, and 4cm deep.  It has a glass eye, and is a half cast replica, flat at the back.
